Hello!
I hope you’ve had a great week and you are staying safe and as sane as you feel you need to be. And thanks for opening this newsletter.
International Women’s Day
Yesterday was International Women’s Day, and Rockstar CMO would not rock without our wonderful community of women who have supported us over the last couple of years. We celebrated last year in our Breaking Glass Issue, well worth dipping back into that.
On that topic, this week, I was kept on point on Twitter, as Dr. F. Annie Pettit called me out in reply to Ted Rubin’s post about the podcast. “What, no women?” she asked.
It was my first experience of being called out on Twitter like this, but it is a good point; we are going through a cycle of male guests. It got me thinking, and I ran the numbers, and we’ve had 24 male guests and 21 female. I’m grateful to anyone who gives their time to be interviewed, but however small a role our podcast plays in our culture, it’s something all of us need to be cognizant of.
On the podcast
Speaking of the podcast, this week, it was our first birthday - our 52nd episode. Jeff Clark and I discuss marketing education, inspired by one of the many Tweets from Mark Ritson about marketing qualifications. In what we loosely call the “One Hit Wonder or Wonderwall” segment (I say loosely as we don’t always agree on what something is) and this week, we decide it’s an unfinished symphony, which gives me a great excuse to play some Massive Attack.
Also from the podcast, I chat with one of our rockstar CMO community Ian Lowe who has moved from Crownpeak to become the CMO at eSSENTIAL Accessibility, and he’s hiring, take a look at the link below.
What would you like?
We are getting some great suggestions of things to discuss on the podcast, and maybe you have something you’d like to hear about. Or maybe you have some news you’d like us to share with the community here in the newsletter or have feedback or suggestions.
You can reply to this email, or catch us on LinkedIn or Twitter.
Hope you enjoy the links below, have a great week!
Cheers,
Ian
