Firstly, thank you for being a subscriber to Rockstar CMO. We’ve not appeared in your inbox for a few months, but as you can see, we’ve made some changes, switched to Revue, so welcome to our relaunched newsletter “The Beat”!
My intention with this newsletter is to continue to share what we publish on Rockstar CMO, but also drop in some of the good stuff I find when I am spinning the dial on the interwebs, discussing on the podcast or that our community is sharing.

On the podcast
In the latest episode, published on Valentine’s weekend, In “one-hit-wonder or Wonderwall” I chat to Jeff Clark and ask, are we in love with AI? Cathy McKnight and I catch up and talk ‘headless’, #martech‘s latest crush, and I do my best to continue the bromance with Robert Rose as we discuss channels over a cocktail in the Rockstar CMO Virtual bar. I like a bit of Mark Ritson, you are probably already familiar with his often profanity-laden posts on Marketing Week, and this article popped into my feed this week and has got a good response when I shared it.
There’s a lot of serious stuff in here to like, but I like this quote when he discusses personas - “A fictional, horseshit portrait is a marketer’s wet dream. A photo stock image of a beaming model sits above a paragraph describing someone who likes your advertising, loves innovation, is a big brand loyalist, and cannot wait to try your new product”… Read more…
